Il risultato finale - Il Disco di Platino

Strofa 1

Eighty candles glow like Paris in the rain,

Children at the table, grandchildren in a chain,

Aprons, cups and laughter where the kettle used to sing,

Emily starts humming and the whole room starts to swing.

All those kitchen mornings, wooden spoon in hand,

Turning soup and stories into music for the band,

One note by the window, one twirl across the floor,

Then someone hits the record and she’s first out through the door.

Ritornello

Oh Emily, shine on tonight,

Eighty years young in the disco light,

Clap your hands, let the good times roll,

You’ve got the music in your soul.

Oh Emily, dance till the morning is new,

All our love is singing for you.

Strofa 2

The grandchildren are cheering, trying to keep the pace,

But Emily’s got sparkle and a winner’s dancing face,

She knows every chorus from the old days to today,

If the music has a heartbeat, she will never stay away.

There’s a cake on the sideboard, cards along the wall,

Someone shouts, “Slow down!” - she doesn’t hear at all,

She’s laughing in the spotlight, shoes tapping the tiles,

A lifetime in a kitchen, now a runway full of smiles.

Ritornello

Oh Emily, shine on tonight,

Eighty years young in the disco light,

Clap your hands, let the good times roll,

You’ve got the music in your soul.

Oh Emily, dance till the morning is new,

All our love is singing for you.

Bridge

Here’s to every melody you gave us day by day,

Songs above the washing-up, troubles rinsed away,

Here’s to every birthday wish and every open door,

We came for cake and kisses - now we’re asking you for more.

Take the centre, take the room,

Bloom beneath the silver moon.

Ritornello

Oh Emily, shine on tonight,

Eighty years young in the disco light,

Clap your hands, let the good times roll,

You’ve got the music in your soul.

Oh Emily, dance till the morning is new,

All our love is singing for you.

Finale

All the family round you, every voice in tune,

Happy birthday, Emily - keep dancing round the room!
